Learn how to use AI & design systems together to create great digital products at scale.
This course is for anyone invested in the success of digital products at your organization. Whether you're a designer, developer, product owner, manager, or leader, you'll learn how AI & design systems work together to help you create better digital products. The course blends foundational concepts with practical, in-the-weeds instruction to help you level up your skills and understanding. By taking this course, you'll:
Order the course and get:
Six chapters covering both high-level concepts and practical implementation techniques your team can immediately apply to your work.
Meet your teachers, get the lay of the land, and understand the course's philosophy, principles, values, and approach. Set yourself up for everything that follows.
Get the 30,000-foot view: a brief history of UI design/development and AI. Then learn how AI & design systems combine into a potent one-two punch for delivering quality at speed.
Get operational. Demystify how to install and configure LLMs, AI-powered IDEs, Figma, Node, Git, API keys, MCPs, and more so you have everything ready to rock and roll.
Run a ten-station inspection across the five qualities of a healthy design system—Complete, Sound, Synchronized, Extensible, and AI-Ready—then use AI to fix what you find. Build infrastructure AI can actually use.
Put your healthy system to work across the whole product process: discovery, experience design, prototyping, and engineering. Watch real greenfield, legacy adoption, ongoing feature work, and retheme projects end to end.
Look beyond traditional workflows to what's newly possible: agents as users, generative UI, hyper-personalization, real-time interfaces, and the creative infinite. A living chapter—new demos land as the frontier moves.
Adopt this work inside real organizations—and keep it healthy through constant change. Get buy-in, run a pilot, roll out across teams, and establish the governance, version control, and attitudes that survive a fast-moving landscape.
Beyond the videos: a Slack community of passionate practitioners, biweekly live Jam Sessions with TJ, Brad, and Ian, sample architectures, demos, and a curated library of links, glossary, and resources.
Learn from industry leaders who have helped countless digital organizations create design systems, adopt new technologies, and work better together.
Product Architect for AI and Design Systems at Figma; founder of Southleft
TJ Pitre is Product Architect for AI and Design Systems at Figma, where he works on building better design systems tooling for design systems teams. He lives at the intersection of design systems and AI, focused on getting design system context structured well enough that AI agents can use it with near-total reliability. Heβs equally invested in traditional, design-led systems and progressive, code-first workflows, and doesnβt think teams have to choose one to succeed with the other.
That focus comes out of 15+ years in design systems. TJ is founder of Southleft, a design systems and AI tooling studio, and has built tools including Figma Console MCP, Story UI, and the Design Systems Assistant MCP that put his thinking into practice. He is an active speaker and contributor in the design systems and AI community.
TJ lives in New Orleans, where he splits his time between building things and figuring out what to build next.
Creators of Atomic Design, Design systems consultants
Brad Frost Web is Brad and Ian Frost, two brothers passionate about making things and helping people. With over 30 years of combined industry experience, we've helped countless organizations—including many Fortune 500 companies—evolve design systems, establish better processes, and create better digital products. We help digital teams level up through training and online courses about design systems, design tokens, frontend development, collaboration, and more.
We live five minutes away from each other in beautiful Pittsburgh. When we're not neck-deep in design systems, we're playing music, making things, and spending time with our families.
What people are saying about the course and community.
AI reshaped our workflows faster than any of us could document them, and this course is the first thing I've found that treats that as a systems problem instead of a tooling trend. The structure and pace are excellent, the resources are genuinely useful, the Jam Sessions and Slack community π§π»βπ³π, topped off with questionable (okay, great) 80s references — this course rock my socks! Brad, Ian, and TJ clearly built this for practitioners doing the actual work.
The least toxic AI space I've encountered.
The price went up, but this AI & Design Systems Course is worth 2 or 3 times what this team is asking. It's not just a course, it's a community. I've thoroughly enjoyed the conversations on Slack, the monthly jam sessions, and all the knowledge folks are sharing. Props to Brad Frost, Ian Frost, and TJ Pitre for all of their hard work and continued support for those of us trying to keep up!
Both Subatomic and AI & Design Systems courses helped me consolidate my knowledge and elevate my understanding of how design systems should be built, communicated and understood. Brad, Ian and TJ crafted the materials of the course in a very practical, hand-on and detailed manner so that you can really learn how to put things in practice.
I truly get the warm fuzzies hanging with you all, I really feel the 'pro-human' vibes amongst the 'ai-one-upmanship' from everyone, let's keep raising all the ships with the tides.
I've just enrolled after hearing great things from my colleague and friend. Seeing the impact the course, community and ongoing learning have had on her made it an easy decision.
Here are answers to the questions we get most. Can't find an answer here? Just drop us a line.
Yes! All six chapters are complete and live, with over 20 hours of videos, demos, resources, and links, including the full ten-station design system inspection and the entire product-workflow chapter.
Chapters 5 and 6 are living chapters. As new tools and patterns emerge, we talk about them in the community and record new lessons. You get every one of them free, along with every update after that.
The course is fully self-paced. You can work through the videos and resources on whatever schedule suits you, and new lessons go up as we add them.
The Jam Sessions are optional live sessions we host every other week. They're a chance to ask questions, see fresh demos, and connect with the community, but there's zero pressure to attend. If you can't make them live, we record and share them so you can catch up whenever it works for you.
It's the thing we designed against from day one. Two ways we handle it:
Durable concepts first, fresh demos continuously. This course will never be "finished," and that's exactly the point.
